DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY TO RAPIDLY DEVELOPING: ADRIANA IS STRONGER, GROWING IN UNDERSTANDING AND STARTING TO READ

Adriana’s mother had to undergo an emergency C-section after a long labor. She was born a healthy baby and her birth was a moment of beautiful celebration in her family. She reached all her milestones as a baby should. She could sit at 8 months of age, and began to stand up and cruise along furniture at the age of 16 months. But by the time she was 18 months old, parents started to notice a delay in her walking and speech. That's when they began to look for help.

Parents took the online Doman Method® Course: From Special Needs to Wellness when Adriana was nearly 4 years old. At the time, Adriana could identify letters of the alphabet and numbers, and her own name, but was not reading words. Adriana could follow instructions, but her understanding was not equal to other 4-year olds. She was hypersensitive to touch. Cutting her toenails was a difficult experience for her. She would cry and feel very upset. Adriana could walk and run, but the manner of her movement was uncoordinated. Her balance was poor too, and she had difficulty walking outdoors when the family would be out in the countryside for walks and hikes. She also had a difficult time navigating a change in direction when moving. She had poor strength especially in her right leg which made climbing stairs a challenge. When she crawled on her belly on the floor, she couldn’t use her right leg.

Parents immediately began the Doman Method Physical Program of crawling on the belly and creeping on hands and knees. Parents also started with the Patterning Program to teach her body to move in a more coordinated way. They began with Doman Method Tactile Integration to help reduce her tactile hypersensitivity, as well as a Reading Program. Along with these treatment plans they also gradually implemented the recommended Nutrition Plan. Within 40 days of having started with the program, Adriana began to use her right leg when crawling on her belly.

At her very first Remote Appointment at Doman International, about 2½ months since having started on her Doman Method Program, Adriana demonstrated many developments. She is now crawling up to 250 meters daily and creeping on hands and knees for nearly 600 meters every day. Parents shared that she is stronger and the coordination in her movement is improving day by day. She had seen about 80 single word reading cards. During her evaluation she could easily read words presented to her that she had been shown before. Her hypersensitivity to touch has reduced since starting the program. She can now walk barefoot. Except for a slight discomfort, she does not feel upset while getting her toe nails cut.

Parents are proud to report that her understanding has improved as well and she could calmly work with the doctor at a recent appointment for collecting blood work.

You see Adriana crawling with her little brother in the video.

We wish Adriana and her family every success on their program!
