Francesca Walks (Cerebral Palsy)

Francesca was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. When she was younger, she was able to creep on her hands and knees and crawl on her belly, but the quality of her movements was compromised simply because of spasticity. Her knees couldn’t straighten even a little, despite Francesca supporting herself by holding onto objects. The spasticity in her knees made it impossible for her to be able to walk.

Francesca’s parents learned of the Doman Method when Francesca was nearly ten years old. At the time, Francesca was in school but her reading was below average and she had seizures.

Francesca’s parents executed a consistent Doman Method Respiratory Program, an academic cognitive program, and a mobility programs that involved creeping on hands and knees, patterning to teach her body how to move correctly and walking under a ladder. With her father as her main coach, Francesca’s improved steadily. Now, Francesca can take seven independent steps with one knee completely straight and the other knee, very close to being straight.

Francesca’s family’s hard work is evident. Their persistence with our Intense Tactile Stimulation program combined with an ancient Ayurvedic technique to combat the rigidity in her knees and improve her brain-muscle connection, has shown significant results!

Francesca has not had any seizures for eighteen months straight and she can now read above age level.

Her biggest wins of all, a real joy for her parents, was to see her walk from room to room for the first time! Way to go Francesca!
