10 Doman Weekly Wins That Will Make You Smile
by Niyati Patel
Children with special needs on the Doman Method® program work hard to get better with every passing day. We call the small and big milestones they achieve in the journey “wins”.
We encourage parents doing the Doman Method® program with their children to celebrate their beautiful efforts. We know how important these stepping stones are for our families, as their child develops into their best selves. Each week, staff coaches from the Doman International team eagerly support families to applaud their child’s wins.
We have collected wins sent to us by parents doing the Doman Method® program. We hope this blogpost offers you inspiration as you enjoy these great wins!
1. “I feel like it is nothing short of a miracle. About a month ago Nathaniel's eye doctor completely took off his glasses and said he doesn't need them anymore! About a year ago, the doctor said Nathaniel would be in glasses until 10 years old in the best case scenario because of his lazy eye. Even though we have not been doing the program as consistently as I planned to, I believe this program has affected Nathaniel's eyes and I can't begin sharing how excited our family is with this miracle. Thank you for patiently working with us!!!” (diagnoses of microcephaly, plagiocephaly, and global developmental delay)
2. “Thanks to the physical program and ladder, I notice changes in Petra's posture, she is stronger and her body is firmer. She is now able to stand up independently in the middle of the room and afterwards stand unsupported for a few seconds. She could not do that before the program.
The Doman Method® Course gave us valuable knowledge and so many good pointers. Thank you for your inspiration and support." (diagnosis of genetic condition, a variant of Dandy Walker Syndrome)
3. "Atlas’s Doman Reading Program is taking off. He’s learning how to read his words, and is even reading words in books! It’s also helping his speech come along, as he’s starting to say many of the words he’s learning to read!”
Here, Atlas is reading the days of the week from his weekly schedule.
(has Autism symptoms)
4. “This is the House of Music in Vienna. The first time we visited we had to leave the room because it was too much for Juan Pablo. Now, it is one of his favorite museums. He loves to experience the sounds.”
Juan Pablo was extremely hypersensitive to sounds in his environment before starting his Doman Method® program. (diagnosis of Autism)
5. "Before the respiratory program, my daughter would hit her head on the floor. She would do it almost every day. Now she does not do it at all. She can now also sit quietly in the car for some time. Before the program, she was very active and couldn't be still or quiet the whole time.
She has had no constipation for the last month.. before it was every day. She has had improvements in eating. She can eat at least 200 ml of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Before it was a struggle to feed her and she mostly had milk to fill her, and she is now able to respond to some of my instructions!" (diagnoses of microcephaly and gastroesophageal reflux)
6. "Big news from Giovanni. He has greatly improved in speaking his sentences. Yesterday he told me this little story, “Panda (Panda is a puppet) has gone outside with bicycle and he has gone to a car shop. He has bought a red and blue car”. I think that (the) patterning (program) has helped him very much." Giovanni had 6 words of speech before starting his Doman Method® program.
7. “Good news! Emilio no longer has night seizures and can sleep up to 10 continuous hours . He is awake and attentive all day. We are doing the Reading Program and presenting pictures to him. He has started to turn his head if I step behind him and also to be interested if I make a noise with my mouth. Before he had no interest (in his surroundings).” (diagnoses of cerebral palsy, microcephaly, refractory seizures, Spastic Klinefelter Syndrome)
8. "Davud was blind, now he is seeing and grabbing his favorite toy while standing!"
Davud could not see and did not move before starting on his Doman Method® program. He is currently in brain-tumour remission. He is beginning to take his first steps in creeping on hands and knees without any support, and loves to walk under Glenn's ladder.
9. Teodora has Down Syndrome. She has had difficulties with learning math for years, but after her recent visit with Doman International, she was designed a new math program that focused on teaching her innate number sense and arithmetic. Parents report that she is thriving with this program and recognizing quantity and doing addition for the first time! They say, “Yes, we are stunned with how she is progressing. In total, we worked on those equations for 9 days!”
Teodora is now learning more sophisticated addition! You can follow Teodora and her family on Facebook and Instagram at @doradiversity
10. “Alfie has been really strong on his legs, wanting to stand a lot and will move his legs with a little support. 😊 And his creeping is amazing. Very little bunny hopping now and even if he does all I have to say is no Alfie we don’t bunny hop and he goes back to creeping properly.” Alfie is now creeping in a cross-pattern.
“Harry crawling off the inclined floor.”
"I think I’ve found his motivation to crawl."
You’ll see Alfie motivating his twin brother, Harry. (both diagnosed with microcephaly)
