Frequently Asked Questions about the Doman Parent Support Group

Doman Parent Support Group is here to help support parents emotionally and mentally through this journey as a special needs parent. We know the family is the answer but that means the family has to be healthy and strong enough mentally to go the distance.

The strongest mothers and fathers succeed because they know they can’t take this journey alone and so this group ensures you never get isolated and you always have a place to come weekly to feel seen and heard.

To sign up, click here. If you are currently on the Doman Program, make sure to ask your staff coach for their coupon so you can get it for free. If you have any further questions, please reach out to Morgan at morgan@domaninternational.org - she is here to help.

1. My English isn't great, will I still be able to join in?

  • Yes! Many of the parents have English as a second language. No one is judging you, and this group isn’t about who speaks the best but about giving every mom the opportunity to grow! Also, you never have to speak if you don’t want to. You can simply listen and decide if you’d like to participate. You can also ask questions and make comments in the Zoom chat, so if you prefer writing, that’s always an option.

2. How do the sessions actually work?

  • The sessions are always an hour long. We meet 1-2x per week. The topics are usually predetermined ahead of time but sometimes we do have an open discussion/Q+A with Morgan. Every month, Morgan welcomes guests like mothers of graduated kids, graduates themselves and Doman Staff to talk about relevant topics.

3. What should I do if I don’t have anyone to watch my child while I attend the group?

  • No worries, come anyway. Often, children are playing in the background while moms join in, and that’s totally fine. I do recommend wearing earbuds so your child can’t hear the discussion – this is because your kids are so smart, and I don’t want them to misunderstand something. However, it’s not required.

4. I’m not presentable. Can I turn off my screen?

  • Yes! There are no requirements to have your screen on – you can choose whatever works best for you.

5. I don’t want to be in a negative environment.

  • This group isn’t about complaining; it’s about motivating each other and making the best out of every day we have with our kids. Of course, I encourage mothers to share the real raw honest truth but that doesn't mean we have to complain without resolutions.

6. I’m not sure if this group is right for me.

  • We encourage you to bring up any concerns with your staff coach – they can answer all your questions.

7. Is the support group free?

  •  The group is free for parents who have come for an appointment for 6 months. The membership will renew every 6 months for free as long as you have appointments. If you opt out of these then you can purchase the membership for $29 per month.

If your question wasn’t answered, reach out to Morgan Doman at morgan@domaninternational.org and she will assist you.
