Letter to Indian Families
Dear Family,
We hope you and your family are doing well. Doman International stands with our Indian families in fighting COVID at this tough time. We all never imagined that COVID-19 would cause such chaos in the country to an extent beyond the control of the Healthcare system. It is time for you to be advocates of you and your family's health during this pandemic.
Make sure you follow the general guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and World Health Organization (WHO) regarding personal hygiene, social distancing and other aspects outlined in the guidelines (https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public).
If anyone in the family becomes symptomatic, DO NOT panic. Isolate them immediately and get them tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
There are protocols which can help you and your family in improving immune response, better and faster recovery (if exposed already). Here is a protocol for you to consider in case if anyone in the family becomes symptomatic or is suspected to have contracted/exposed to COVID-19. It is recommended that all family members start the protocol in such situations and not just your child
The current situation in India is particularly stressful for many reasons. From the new mutant strain of the virus to shortage of isolation facilities with oxygenated beds in many
parts of the country, there are many reasons to add to the stress! Stress can also lower immunity and increase the risk of not just COVID but many other infections. Stress can also impact your child's Rehabilitation program and outcomes to a great extent. Visit the Ministry of Health website (https://www.mohfw.gov.in/) for updates on COVID and not on the internet and social media which could amplify the information and sometimes be misleading too, adding to the stress levels.
Stay in close contact with your child's staff coach and reach out to them when you feel a need to talk. If you are stressed, have family members who are infected, unable to reach the program goals with your child, consider having a word with your child's staff coach.
We wish you and your family all the very best.
