Nutrition Tools & Resources for New Doman Parents

by Julee Mahon

Hi, Doman Method® parents, friends, and followers,

Julee here and I am back to show you some neat Nutrition Resources to help get you started on your child’s diet!

As a member of the DII Nutrition Team, I work very closely with my Director, Dr. Aravind Bagade, and colleagues Alex Del Rosario and Manuela Martini. As a department, we are in constant communication with each other about all things nutrition. You name it, we discuss it (yes even bowel movements). From programs to articles and protocols, tools and tips for parents, sharing recipes, cleaning supplies, and we can't forget supplements, nothing is off-limits.

But I know what you are thinking “That is great Julee, but where l do I start?”

That is a very good question, and I am here to help you answer it.

#1 Online Doman Method Course

With that being said, there is one place you can go to start learning about our Doman Diet which is by taking our online Doman Method Course (DMC). If you are new to Doman International and the Doman Method® the best way to start is to dive right in. Our online Doman Method Course: From Special Needs to Wellness has what you need to start your child’s nutritional journey. Our introductory lecture will break down the basics of nutrition and explain why we do what we do with the Doman Diet. To get started today click here!

#2 Doman Books

Okay, so you have taken the course and want to learn more and focus on creating your own plan. I would recommend you get our book The Doman Method: From Special Needs To Wellness or our other book, Answering Autism. These two books are packed with Doman Diet tips and overall knowledge of nutrition. The nutrition chapters in these two books really lay it all out and give you, the parents, the tools to get started to create your child’s nutrition plan. They say knowledge is power. Well, these two books can be a powerful force when it comes to nutrition.

#3 The Advanced Doman Program (and courses!)

For families who have taken the online DMC, have read the books, and have started to create a path of wellness through diet for their child, the next step is coming to Doman International for an appointment. When you come to us for an appointment (whether you are in-person or online), you get access to our Advanced Doman Courses (ADC). The ADC consists of 6 Nutrition Lectures. I know, it's quite appealing! It is filled with even more insight that will further help you implement your child’s Doman Method Nutrition Program. When you come in for an appointment you will get the chance to meet with a Nutrition Staff Member to get a custom program just for your child. This program is just the beginning of the process. The ADC lectures give you insight into rotational diets, sleep, Ayurveda, brain health, and more. You will truly advance your child’s nutrition and wellness with these resources.

#4 Online Resources

Are you ready for some of our behind-the-scenes tips and tricks from the DII Nutrition Department?

DII Nutrition Resources: Coffee with Dr. Aravind & The Doman Cooking Show

Join DII Director of Health and Nutrition, Dr. Aravind Bagade, for Coffee with Dr. Aravind! This is DII’s nutrition-only webinar that is presented every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 8:30 am EST/6 pm IST. You can join Dr. Aravind on Zoom by registering  HERE. Or you can catch the webinar on our DII Facebook. Bring your nutrition questions.

My fellow team member, Alex Del Rosario, has started The Doman Cooking Show on Youtube. Subscribe to Alex’s Youtube channel and check out his first video on how to create an ideal plate for the Doman Diet!

Nut Milk Maker: Since our Doman Diet is a dairy-free diet we recommend replacing dairy products with plant-based nut and seed options. We recommend making your own nut/seed milk so that you know it is also sugar-free. This process takes some time. A nut milk game-changer comes in the form of a sleek machine called The Nutr Machine. The Nutr makes hot, warm, and room temperature nut/seed milk in mere minutes. This cuts down preparation time and allows your child to consume it right away.  Make 1 serving or make a few batches and store it in the refrigerator for the whole week. You can use any nut, seed, or oats.

Organic Cleaning Supplies: A clean and safe environment (in terms of suppressing mold and toxins) is the ideal environment for the Doman Method Program. In order to create your child’s ideal environment, you will need to discard your old cleaning habits and create new ones. From laundry to the dishwasher to all-purpose cleaners, Branch Basics has it all! Branch Basics’ mission is to toss the toxins and promote a healthy way of life. How it works is founded on a system with 1 concentrate base for all their products. Did I mention their products are plant and mineral-based and are fragrance-free? This makes them the healthiest products for your home.

Supplements: Supplements can be a great way to make sure your child is getting all the nutrients they need when their diet is not able to support them. One site we use often is called iHerb. If you come to DII for an appointment (initial or revisit) and meet with a Nutrition Staff Member, your child may have supplements recommended to you from iHerb depending on their need. One really cool offer iHerb has is if you sign up and create an account with them you will receive coupons and discounts which will cut the cost of your child's supplements. We know sometimes supplements can get pricey so if there is a way to get weekly discounts why not, right? Sign up today and get 5% off your first order! HERE

It is never too early to start or even make changes to your child’s nutrition journey. Whether you are new to our program or a veteran Doman Parent, I hope these tools and resources have made you excited about nutrition!

Stay tuned for more tools and resources!
