From Two Words of Speech to Singing Songs! (Cerebral Palsy)

Paarth was born prematurely at 27 weeks after a very long and difficult labor. He spent 40 days in the hospital and suffered many problems during this time including respiratory distress, pneumonia, and seizure spasms requiring medication and a ventilation machine. A scan at 6 months of age showed that he had suffered neonatal asphyxia, which is a lack of oxygen during birth, and this had resulted in his brain injury.

Paarth’s parents took The Doman Method® Course when he was 4 years of age. At the time, Paarth was unable to move his limbs except for limited movement in his right hand. He had poor neck control, low muscle tone and most of his body was rigid. His ability to speak was limited to two words of speech. His understanding was much below his peers. Following the recommendations of The Doman Method®, parents began with an ideal nutrition plan. They gradually introduced a Doman Method® respiratory program, then a reading program and sensory integration programs. They started to do patterning with Paarth to teach his body how to move and he started to learn how to crawl on his belly on the inclined floor 20 times per day!

At his most recent neurological evaluation with Doman International in New Delhi, India, Paarth demonstrated his many accomplishments. His mother has shown him over 200 single words in his Reading Program and he can recognize all those words. He can understand all three languages as spoken in his home. He knows his daily schedule and is able to follow instructions easily and happily. His rigidity and muscle tone have improved. He is now able to crawl on his belly on the flat floor for up to 5 meters without stopping. He is able to move his upper body and arms independently and can reach for the things he is interested in around the house.

Paarth has now begun to talk a lot! His language is growing every day. He loves to talk about the books he reads, tell stories and sing.
