Reading and Language Go Hand-in-Hand for Reansh (Trisomy-21)
Reansh was 19 months old when his mother took the Doman Method® Course: From Special Needs to Wellness. He had been diagnosed with Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome. He is now 2 years and 5 months old.
After taking the course, his mother began the Doman Method Reading Program with little Reansh. She has shown him about 130 words. Doman Method cognitive programs include Doman Cards which give pictorial facts about the world which our children adore. Reansh’s mother has adapted this program and has shown him picture flashcards to give him knowledge about the world. He knows flowers through his picture flashcards. His mother reports he is currently enjoying cards of dog breeds.
Reansh loves his Doman Method cognitive program so much that he grasps the information very quickly. His mother is happy to see that he is interested in having his cognitive program sessions often during the day. She confidently shares that Reansh knows about 450 picture cards.
Mom remarks, “In general, his comprehension has improved greatly since I followed reading flashcards as well as reading books more regularly. I also see his expressive language has improved a lot...he tries to imitate and say words more often.”
Here’s a video of Reansh having a great time reading words with his mother. Go Reansh!
