5 Brain Training Exercises for Doman Families

In our blog, we usually talk about how to speed up the development of your child, how to organize a program according to the Doman Method™, and also share secrets and life hacks on how to make the program more effective.

Today, I want to share with you games and exercises that can be done by the whole family - together with children or only by Doman Parents - in order to improve brain function, attention, memory and nurture creative abilities. This will make you more creative in improving and implementing the Doman Method™ Program and will also help you be a worthy example for your child to follow.

These exercises are a great option for activities and games with family and friends!

1. Mirroring

Each person participating should take a large sheet of paper and a pen or pencil. Start drawing the same shapes at the same time. For beginners these can be simple geometric shapes: circle, square, oval. When it becomes simple, complicate the task - draw complex shapes: polygons, three-dimensional shapes, even full-fledged paintings.

2. Colored words

You need to tell the color of each word loudly as quickly as possible. When you have mastered the simple option, proceed to the advanced one:

This exercise is an excellent tool for synchronizing the work of both hemispheres of the brain.

3. Random words

The essence of this exercise is to connect a few completely random words with a story. It could be difficult at first and you will need 3-4 sentences to associate every 2 words. But over time, linking the words will become easier and faster.

In an ideal situation, you should associate every 2 words with each other in no more than 2 phrases. When the list that we have provided below ends, come up with your own and continue the game!

4. Neuro-aerobics

This is a charge for the brain which consists of exercises that include several senses at once:

  • If you are right-handed, write the text with your left hand (and vice versa);

  • Walk from one room to another with your eyes closed. If this is done easily, then you can find something by touch when you reach the goal.

  • Hold your left ear with your right hand, your nose with your left hand, and crouch at the same time. Next time - change hands and sit down again. Alternate squats. The total number of squats is a minimum of 20.

  • Try getting from one point to another by walking backwards!

5. Illogical chain

Look at the list of words for 90 seconds and then try to remember all the words and their order.

After this time, the player tries to recite them in the right order. The winner is the one who is the best at memorizing and reciting the list. Try to create your own ways to group words or come up with associations to remember as many as possible.

After you finish the lists we provide, make your own to continue the game!
