Enjoy Melissa’s answers and getting to know Melissa better!

1. What is a book that everyone should be familiar with?

Animal Farm by George Orwell.

It's a great lesson in the importance of personal freedoms and it really helped shape my own personal philosophies.

2. What would you suggest everyone try to do?

Everyone should try to learn one new thing a year. It's always good to challenge yourself, and keep the brain guessing.

No matter how big or small the activity, it’s important to always be learning!

3. If you had to choose only three things on a desert island, what would it be?

NFL Gamepass (which gets me access to all American football games), my laptop, and high speed internet... and then Spencer if I could combine the laptop and internet.

4. What question would you like others to ask you, but they never ask?

So, what is Irish hurling?

5. How do you relax after a stressful week?

To keep stress levels in check, I make sure to work out every morning.  It keeps me focused, and keeps me out of overwhelm during the week. But, when the week is over, I find the best way to kick back on weekends is

  • to play flag football Sunday morning,

  • watch football Sunday afternoon, and

  • cooking dinner at a leisurely pace with a beer.

6. If you could change one thing about modern society, what would you change?

Reliance on social media and modern technology

As great as it is to be connected to so many people from around the world, it isn't real connection.  There are exceptions to this, like the support groups for parents of kids with special needs.  Sometimes, it can feel lonely, and knowing there are others out there in your boat can be reassuring.  But, you’ve got to get out there and meet people, meet with friends, and build relationships that way.  Life isn't about the amount of likes you get on the picture of your dinner.  Why not enjoy that meal in real time with others?

7. Tell us the best quality of one of your Doman International co-workers?

Lucia+Giorgi+of+Doman+International.jpg

I want to give props to Lucia Giorgi - her ability to organize maintenance, schedules, meals and more for the families while we are in Italy is just incredible.  Her ability to remember the most minute details shows just how much she cares for our families and the staff of Doman International.  And, she's been doing it for 30 years!
