ELISA WORKING HER WAY TO LIVING INDEPENDENTLY

When we first met Elisa, she was 9 years old.

At the time, she could read, but her general understanding was below her peers. Her mobility was below her peer level and she lacked coordination in her movement. Her ability to speak was limited and she could not express herself fully with speech.

Soon after starting the Doman Method™ program, parents started a program of an ideal nutrition plan for Elisa, as well as physical, cognitive and other recommendations given in the Doman Method™ Course. Parents saw Elisa improve in all areas of her development and felt her ready to be with her peers. By the time she was 13 years of age, Elisa began to go to school and participate in regular school life.

At her most recent evaluation at Doman International, Elisa, now 20, returned to receive help to live as an independent adult.

Elisa’s special focus is on doing a Doman Method™ Social Program, and a very ambitious physical program.  She runs 3 miles (5km) a day and does brachiation, seen in this video. Brachiation helps improve the quality of her handwriting and fine motor abilities, important for independence. In less than 3 months, as strong and determined as she is, she has started to brachiate independently. At 20 years of age, it is not easy to begin to do brachiation.

You see her here enjoying her time on the brachiation ladder!

She is getting more and more independent at home by learning more sophisticated life skills, and outside her house as well. She is now using public transportation completely independently for transport. These are important strides to achieve the end goal of life independence.

We compliment Elisa and her parents for their hard work. Bravi!!!!
